Even though alternative energy such as wind power is an excellent way to generate electricity in your home, saving you money and helping the environment, it is still very expensive to have professionally installed in your own home. A professional wind power system for your own home will cost you thousands of dollars. Learn how to build your own wind turbine for less than $300 that will give you just as good electricity producing, power bill-reducing results.
The first step in building your own wind turbine is determining whereabouts in your property it will go. Whilst mounting the turbine on your roof would be the obvious choice as this area receives the most wind, due to planning restrictions and the risk of lightning striking through the metal, you probably won’t be able to. Also, having one on top of your house would probably be rather unsightly as well. This means that you are going to have to find somewhere in your yard that receives a decent amount of wind every day.
Once you have chosen your spot, the next step is to download a wind turbine blueprint kit off the Internet. Although you can rush out and purchase the parts such as the propellers and wiring, without a blueprint kit you will probably make a mistake and have to start all over again. Also, you will save more money in the long run by paying for downloading a kit in the first place. The diagrams and instructions will show you where to purchase the necessary components for the lowest possible price. You can easily build a complete wind turbine system for under $300, including the cost of the instruction/blueprint kit. That’s a saving of thousands of dollars when compared to what you would pay a wind energy technician to do the exact same job as you.
Perhaps the best part about using a blueprint kit to build your own wind turbine is the fact that you will learn how to wire your system in such a way that you can sell back the excess power produced to your utility company. Instead of you paying them money, they will be sending you checks. Using this method, a number of people I know (myself included) have installed more than one turbine, allowing us to either store excess electricity in a battery system, or feed it back to the utility company for a tidy profit. It’s kinda like running a clean, green, efficient power plant in your own back yard!
